NEW - Pre-competitive Program:

The Red Deer Marlin Summer Swim Club is pleased to offer a pre-competitive program to run alongside our already successful competitive swim team. This program will teach young swimmers the fundamentals of competitive swimming and prepare them to transition into a competitive program.

Pre-requisites:
Red Cross Pre-School Program – Whale or skills comparable:

• Swim – ten metres
• Jump into chest-deep water and stay safe at the surface for 20 seconds
• Perform a back swim using appropriate technique for seven metres

This program will be capped at a maximum of 10 participants. A wait list will be taken. The Club will be operating this program at a 5:1 ratio of swimmers to coaches.

Program Details:

These swimmers will be swimming out of the Michener Aquatic Center.

May 1 – May 25	Monday and Fridays	6am-7am
May 25 – June 30	Monday and Fridays	6am-7am
	Tuesday and Thursdays	4 – 5pm
July 1 - August 15	Monday – Thursdays	5 – 6pm

They will swim in the main lane pool for the first 30 minutes of their session and the last 30 minutes of activities will take place in the warm pool.

The swimmers will be encouraged to participate or watch a Swim Meet to fully experience the program. Especially, if the swimmer is classified in the 6 and under category (age as of May 01, 2010) – our coaches would hope to have them ready for the Red Deer/Lacombe Meet on June 19th and 20th for at least one race (25m flutterboard).

With the start of this pre-competitive program all swimmers entering into the Competitive Program must successfully complete one lane of the 25m pool in a unassisted safe manner. Recommended Level – Red Cross Swim Kids Level 5.
