Marlins win 10 medals at weekend swim meet

KILLAM -- The Red Deer Marlins captured 10 aggregate medals, including four gold, at the Killam Cyclones swim meet during the weekend.Hayley Goring, Sydney Wall, Amy Andrew and Sefrah Daviduck all captured gold.
Goring won the girls 17-and-over division while winning the 100-metre backstroke in one minute 24.91 seconds, the 100m freestyle in 1:14.64, the 50m freestyle in 34.63 seconds and the 100m breaststroke in 1:44.42.
Wall came in first in the 15-16 year-old girls division as she won the 100m freestyle (1:07.88), 50m freestyle (30.64) and the 50m butterfly (34.44) and was second in the 200m Individual medley (3:01.47).
Andrew came in first in the girls 13-14 year-old division as she captured the 50m butterfly (34.56), the 100m freestyle (1:06.73) and 50m freestyle (30.00) and was third in the 100m backstroke (1:28.70).
Daviduck won the 11-12 year-old girls title. She won the 100m freestyle in 1:14.31 and the 50m freestyle in 34.19 while taking second in the 100m I.M. in 1:28.58 and the 50m breaststroke in 45.99.
Five members of the club captured silver in the aggregate race, while Chase Desrosiers was third in the boys 15-16 year-old division.
Jennifer Engler was second in the girls 15-16 year-old division, Kahn Daviduck in the boys 13-14 year-old class, Catherine Alcorn in the girls 13-14 year-old category, Dwight Akkermans in the boys 11-12 year-old division and Erika Driesen in the girls six-and-under section.
Engler won the 100m breaststroke in 1:26.63 and was third in the 100m freestyle in 1:14.58, while Kahn Daviduck won the 100m breaststroke in 1:25.50, was second in the 50m freestyle in 30.85 seconds and 100m freestyle in 1:09.88 and third in the 200m I.M. in 3:01.31.
Alcorn won the 200m I.M. in 2:50.05 while taking second in the 100m breaststroke in 1:30.93 and the 50m butterfly in 34.94 seconds.
Akkermans won the 50m butterfly (45.7) and 50m freestyle (35.82) and was second in the 100m I.M. (1:31.93).
Driesen won the flutterboard (32.67) and 25m backstroke (34.23) and was second in the 25m freestyle (38.46).
Desrosiers was second in the 100m breaststroke (1:25.79), 100m freestyle (1:04.84) and 200m I.M. (2:47.21) and third in the 50m freestyle (29.05).

Gold: Mairead Bast, 9-10 50m breast (52.56 seconds); Jillian Engler, 13-14 100m breast (1:26.63).
Silver: Kameryne Boyd, eight-and-under 25m fly; Rebecca Miller, 13-14 100m free and 200 I.M.
Bronze: Jillian Engler, 100m free; Katelyne Hallock-Harker, eight-and-under 25m fly; Rebecca Miller, 100m breast; Rebecca Statchuk, 100m breast.
Boys
Silver: Adrian Christ, 13-14 100m breast; Quinn Daviduck, 15-16 50m fly; Tyler Driesen, 9-10 50m back; Brendan Laing, eight-and-under 25m fly; Jared Marshall, eight-and-under 25m breast.
Bronze: Geordan Andrew, 9-10 50 breast, 50m free and 100m I.M.; Adrian Christ, 100m free and 100m back; Blake Core, 9-10 50m back; Quinn Daviduck, 100m free; Christian McLean, 11-12 50m free, 50m back and100m free; Gabriel McLean, eight-and-under 25m fly.
