Marlins capture team title, aggregates

The Red Deer Marlins Swim Club captured the team title and a pair of individual aggregate titles at the Wainwright Torpedoes swim meet during the weekend.

Jillian Engler won the 13-14 year-old girls’ title while Catherine Alcorn topped the girls’ 15-16 year-old division.

Engler won the 13-14 year-old 50-metre butterfly in 34.83 seconds, the 100m breaststroke in 1:25.72 and the 200m Individual Medley in 2:53.36 and the 14-and-under 100m breaststroke in 1:25.72. She was second in the 13-14 year-old 100m freestyle.

Alcorn won the 15-and-over 100m butterfly in 1:15.77 seconds, the open 800m freestyle in 11:03.42 and the 15-16 year-old 200m I.M. in 2:52.35 while taking second in the 13-and-over 200m freestyle and third in the 15-16 year-old 50m butterfly.

Marlin swimmers also captured three silver and three bronze aggregate medals.

Jon Snydal (eight-and-under boys), Sefrah Daviduck (13-14 girls) and Chase Desrosiers (15-16 boys) finished second while Erika Driesen (eight-and-under girls), Tyrel Brown (13-14 boys) and Quinn Daviduck (15-16 boys) took third.

Snydal finished second in the 25m butterfly, 25m freestyle, 25m breaststroke and 100m I.M. and third in the 100m I.M. and 50m freestyle.

Sefrah Daviduck won the 13-14 year-old girls’ 100m freestyle in 1:10.39 and the 13-and-over 400m freestyle in 5:35.22 while taking second in the 13-14 year-old 50m freestyle and 200m I.M. and third in the 13-14 year-old 100m breaststroke and 13-and-over 200m freestyle.

Desrosiers won the 15-16 year-old 100m freestyle in 1:01.34 and 100m breaststroke in 1:20.63 while taking second in the open 1,500m, 13-and-over 400m, freestyle and 15-16 year-old 200m I.M. and third in the 15-16 year-old 50m freestyle.

Driesen was second in the eight-and-under 100m I.M. and 25m backstroke while Brown won the 13-14 year-old 200m I.M. in 3:12.33 and the 50m butterfly in 36.93 seconds to go with a third in the 14-and-under 100m butterfly.

Quinn Daviduck was second in the 15-16 year-old 50m and 100m freestyle, the 13-and-over 200m freestyle and the 15-and-over 100m butterfly.

Blake Coe, third eight-and-under 25 fly, 25 breast, 100 I.M.

Josiah Connolly, third 11-12 year-old, 100 I.M.

Kahn Daviduck, first 15-16 year-old 100 back (1:16.37); second 100 breast, 50m fly; third 15-and-over 100 fly.

Kaden Schiller, second six-and-under 50 free, 25 free.

Girls

Erika Driesen, second eight-and-under 100 I.M., 25 back.

Samantha Statchuk, third nine-10 year-old 50 free.

Relays

Gold: 15-16 year-old girls’ 200m medley; 15-16 boys’ 200m medley and 200m free.

Silver: nine-10 boys’ 100m medley and 100m free.
