Marlins medal in Forestburg

FORESTBURG — Eight members of the Red Deer Marlins Swim Club captured aggregate medals at the Forestburg Aquanauts invitational meet during the weekend.

Claire Halford, Adrian Christ and Noelle Makey won gold with Jillian Engler and Chase Desrosiers taking silver and Holly Daniel, Catherine Alcorn and Quinn Daviduck capturing bronze.

Halford won the girls’ eight-and-under 100-metre Individual Medley in two minutes 14.37 seconds and the 50m freestyle in 47.59 seconds while taking second in the 25m butterfly.

Christ had three gold medal swims in the 13-14 year-old boys’ division — the 50m freestyle (30.41), 100m freestyle (1:07.82) and 100m breaststroke (1:34.04) — while taking second in the 13-and-over 400m freestyle.

Makey competed in the girls’ 15-16 year-old division.

Engler won the 13-14 year-old girls’ 100m breaststroke in 1:25.00 and the 200m I.M. in 2:53.54 while finishing second in the 50m butterfly.

Desrosiers won the 15-16 year-old boys’ 100m breaststroke in 1:20.64 while taking second in the 200m I.M. and 50 and 100m freestyle.

Daniel, competing in the girls’ eight-and-under division, won the 25m backstroke in 25.70 seconds and finished third in the 25m freestyle.

Alcorn won the 13-and-over girls’ 400m freestyle in 5:26.39 and the 15-16- year-old 200m I.M. in 2:52.52 while finishing third in the 50m butterfly and 100m breaststroke.

Daviduck was second in the 15-16 year-old boys’ 100m backstroke and 50m butterfly and third in the 50 and 100m freestyle.

Sefrah Daviduck, second 13-14 50 free, 100 free; second 13-and-over 400 free.

Kyra McMurray, second eight-and-under 100 I.M.; third 25 ‘fly.

Sydney McMurray, second eight-and-under 25 back, 25 breast; third 100 I.M.

Emily Simon, third eight-and-under 25 breast, 25 back.

Boys

Dwight Akkermans, second, 13-14 100 free; third 200 I.M.

Tyrel Brown, second 13-14 200 I.M., 50 ‘fly; third 100 breast.

Kahn Daviduck, third 15-16 50 ‘fly.

Relays

Girls: Eight-and-under first 100m medley, 13-14 year-old second 200m medley.

Boys: first 15-16 year-old 200m medley.
